Addiction Medicine Track Structure
Internal Medicine, Med-Peds, or Med-Psych residents apply for entrance to the track at the end of their intern year, with scheduled rotations and curricula starting in their PGY2 or PGY3 year. All AMT residents are scheduled for two key clinical experiences:
- Longitudinal Subspecialty Clinic: AMT residents are scheduled for a weekly clinic session at the UK First Bridge Clinic, allowing for graduated responsibility and independence in managing patients with opioid use disorder.
- Inpatient Addiction Medicine Consultation: all AMT residents rotate on the UK Addiction Consult and Education Service (ACES)—a month-long experience coupling exposure to incredible patient complexity and 1:1 clinical coaching.
